Our Plan to get in Shape
So then what should you be doing? What's the new fantastic plan to get in shape? I'm hopefully going to give you a brief outline of the plan here.
Firstly you should be eating more! So many diets fail because they leave you feeling hungry and miserable. And of coarse you are going to want to stop a diet that starves you and make you want to have a nervous break down everytime you walk through the sweets isle in the grocery store. The plan is to eat more. More of the right foods, that is. And we'll get into what the right foods are later. But did you know that 30% of your calorie burning comes from eating! The act of digesting food burns calories! Do you know what that means? If you keep eating you speed up your metabolism And in turn, burn fat!
As I said before you should be eating more of the right foods. Well lean protein is one of them. Your body burns 50% more calories digesting protein than it does digesting carbohydrates. So you should be increasing your intake of lean healthy proteins in a sensible way. That is one of the building blocks of our new plan to lose weight. Another important thing that protein does is build calorie burning muscle. Did you know by just adding half a kilogram (one pound) Of lean muscle mass to your body, it will increase your resting metabolic rate by up to 50 calories a day. The more lean muscle you have the more calories it needs just to fuel it. So another goal of our plan will be to add some lean muscle to your frame. Now don't get a fright, I guarantee that you wont get huge like a body builder, especially the ladies out there. But we just want to add enough lean muscle to turn your body into a fat burning machine.
Another huge part of our plan will be to eat healthy and not just eat to lose weight. Anyone can lose weight by starving themselves but how healthy are they going to be in the end. We are going to concentrate on eating nutrient and vitamin rich foods that taste great, help your body to burn fat, give you more energy and make you feel great! An additional advantage of getting all the nutrition you need is that it cuts your cravings down. Often when people who are addicted to cigarettes try to quit they are told to supplement with lots of vitamins. That's because when you cut out something bad, you have to replace it with lots of something good. Otherwise you will spend most of your time longing and craving for all the wrong food.
Another aspect that we will touch on in our plan to get in control of our weight is exercise. It is optional, but hugely beneficial and it is highly recommended that some strength training accompany our new eating habits.
Well that's it in a nutshell.
